It’s not cold it’s brisk

 As winter wind swirls white flurries around.I wait and wait for that sound.The sound of the major gusts that you can hear like they are traveling from downtown.The red sky let’s you know what’s ahead and yes many will struggle to get out of bed.Because when our feet hit that floor the cold will be hard to ignore.But this time of year can be seen as a challenge not something to fear.That resolve not too let that bitter cold make us wither and fold.No it should be a challenge to be met with a smile because it makes us appreciate that time of year when the weather is mild.So when that cold wind gusts and your feet start to numb just think of that sunny warm day that will eventually come.

SnowDog

Oh I love this time of year my tail starts to wag when it gets near.I’m hoping for a large chewy bone on this Christmas day.Or maybe a new doggie bed on which I will lay.Or maybe some scraps from Christmas dinner will fall on the floor and I could use a doggy trap door.That way I could come and go at anytime.So I could visit my doggie friend for which I pine.I was nuetured this year so I need lots of extra cheer.Those are two things that will never come back to me.I  notice they’re missing every-time I pee.So this year I could really use some cheer in actuality what I really need is a case of beer.I remember this time of year as I would run in the snow how I’d think they might freeze and off they would go.But I never imagined it’d be on a warm summer day when I thought I was going to the park to play.Well they’re gone now and not to return but for french poddles I still yearn.So all is not lost no pun intended.Maybe I can get them back somehow and they can be mended.Until then I’ll still run around and pretend they are still there just like my owner does with his hair.

Ode to Snow.

It’s bright and fluffy as it covers the land.Then it turns a light brown as it’s covered with sand.Now what’s added to the mix is A bright yellow hue  after scruffy does what dogs do.Here a frozen paper there a frozen soda can.Oh wait there’s a dirty version of frosty the snowman.Underneath all of this blend is an invisible layer of ice that will make your knees bend.Balance that bag in your right hand as your left foot starts to slip.Get it together quick or you will be the next color that the snow will have added to it.

Holiday Shopping

The best parts of holiday shopping are the parking lots.They seem to bring out the holiday spirit in all of us.People have to get the spot closest to the door even if they are young and fit. And they speed around the aisles in search of that closest spot while other shoppers have to jump out of the way while slipping and sliding on the brown ice and snow.I love to watch the drivers exchange a special kind of holiday greeting as they raise a certain finger to each other as they cut each other off. Ahh the holiday spirit is back again.
